Abstract: Based on the construction experiences of the Ningbo test section of Tongsan express highway, in this paper described the causes of the insufficient subgrade width in construction of express highway on soft soil area, presented the calculating formula of layered widening in subgrade construction, so as to meet the requirement for design of subgrade section, it may be used as reference for building express highways in mollisol region.
